The Beauty of Sanskrit

This course explores the sounds and symbols of the Sanskrit alphabet, which reflect the primal sounds of the universe. Learn the writing of the Devanagari (“language of the gods”) script, as well as proper pronunciation of mantras and prayers chanted in our classes, courses, and satsangs.
Sanskrit, is considered to be the Mother of all languages. Sanskrit is the most ancient of human languages and is know as Devanagari, the language of the Gods. Reciting Sanskrit has a profound calming, soothing and revitalising effect on body and mind.
This introductory course allows you to learn the shapes and sounds of the Sanskrit alphabet. Topics include vowels, consonants, ligatures, simple words and the writing of mantras in Sanskrit. Studying basic calligraphy of the Devanagari script brings new insights and enriches your understanding of the depths of yoga. No prior knowledge of Sanskrit is required to attend the course.

Teachers
The workshop will be given by Swami Nityananda. She is a compassionate teacher and shares the teachings with joy.
Course venue
The course will be held in the Sivananda Centre in London – a spiritual oasis amid the pressures of city life. Situated in a quiet residential area, the centre’s welcoming reception area, spacious studios and beautiful peace garden provide an ideal setting for practising yoga, meditation and relaxation. You are welcome to stay in the centre for the length of the course, accommodation will be in a shared room. It is also possible to attend individual workshops, classes and satsangs in case you are unable to participate in the full course.
