How Yoga Works
4 – 7 May 2018
Taught by: Savitri
We welcome yoga teachers for a further training course on How Yoga Works during the Early May Bank Holiday Weekend from Friday 4 – Monday 7 May.
Asanas promote health by increasing the range of motion in the joints, keeping the body mobile. At most joints, muscles are arranged in opposite pairs: movement takes place when one muscle contracts and shortens while the other relaxes and lengthens. Asanas focus on strengthening and stretching the key muscles. This will help to gradually improve any faulty alignment, particularly in the lower and upper back.
This three-day programme will help you to deepen your asana practice, improve your teaching skills and reconnect to the teachings of Swami Sivananda and Vishnudevananda.
Training costs: £145. Teachers can stay at the centre on Friday, Saturday and Sunday night at an additional cost of £15 per night. Please bring your uniform.
The anatomy workshops will be taught by Padma, an inspired senior physiotherapist and Sivananda trained teacher. The asana classes will be given by Kailas. Kailas is the practical manager of the Sivananda Ashram in France and is a dynamic teacher. The satsangs will be given by Swami Jyotirmayananda, director of the London Sivananda Yoga Centre.
TTC Preparation Day
12 May, 2018
10.15am-7.45pm | Saturday
This one-day programme is designed to give you an insight into a typical TTC day. You will participate in two asana classes, two lectures and the evening meditation, which includes traditional mantra chanting.
Presentations will cover the historical background of the Sivananda Teachers’ Training Course, the course curriculum, the different course venues and the certificate of completion. There will be time for Q&As and course teachers will also be available for individual advice and guidance.
This day provides an excellent opportunity to get to know the International Sivananda Yoga Centres as a training institute for anyone thinking about taking a Teachers’ Training Course.
