A Way of Life
A Way of Life
Living the Yogic Path
For us, yoga is more a way of life than a form of exercise. The word yoga means to join, to unite. It is a comprehensive approach to physical, spiritual and mental well-being that promotes a balanced way of living for the senses, the emotions and the mind.
You can experience the yogic way of life at a range of events and occasions that include group meditation, spiritual festivals, ayurveda courses, vegetarian cookery workshops, visits from international guest speakers and more.
The yogic tradition advocates a vegetarian diet. Predominantly plant-based, this diet ensures that our food gets its energy directly from the sun – the source of all life.
Ayurveda is a holistic science. It aims at preventing disease and improving health and wellbeing. It is a source of profound knowledge for improving and maintaining good health, curing disease and increasing longevity.
Fasting is nature’s healing agent. A fast gives the digestive system a rest, eliminates toxins and rejuvenates the entire body. Mentally, a fast develops concentration, strengthens the willpower and helps to release negative emotions.
Kirtan or chanting is singing with love, devotion and faith. Kirtan elevates the mind, opens the heart and soothes the nerves. Kirtan gives you strength to face difficulties in life. It is a powerful mental tonic.
Interested in serving others? In deepening into yourself? Time and again, great yogis guide us to the wisdom of purifying our heart. There is no better way to achieve this than through selfless service.
"Yoga is a life of self-discipline built upon the tenets of simple living and high thinking."– Swami Vishnudevananda
